A Legacy of Service on the Severn River

Severna Park Yacht Basin has a proud history dating back to 1929, when Fulton’s Yacht Yard first opened its doors then the Sappingtons took over about 1933 on this same stretch of Forked Creek. Nearly 100 years later, that same spirit of service lives on.

Long before our time, this property was home to Sappington’s Yacht Yard — a hardworking, family-run operation that served generations of boaters on Forked Creek and the Severn River. That legacy of hands-on service, craftsmanship, and connection to the water is something we take seriously and continue to build on every day.

Our chapter began in 2003, when we started by renting the marina. From the beginning, we saw more than just a boatyard — we saw potential. The facilities needed attention, the systems needed improvement, and the operation needed a renewed focus on service and long-term growth. In 2007, we made the commitment to purchase the property and take full control of its future.

Since then, we’ve been in a constant state of rebuilding and reinvestment. Every year has brought improvements — whether upgrading infrastructure, expanding storage, modernizing service capabilities, or refining the customer experience. What started as a worn but promising yard has been steadily transformed into a full-service marina known for reliability, expertise, and a strong relationship with its customers.

We’ve also expanded into the Severna Park Boat Club, giving more people an easy, flexible way to get on the water without the burden of ownership.

Today, Severna Park Yacht Basin is more than just a place to keep a boat. It’s a working marina where slips and storage provide a solid foundation, and a growing service operation drives the future. We take pride in being hands-on operators who understand both the technical side of the business and the expectations of today’s boat owners.

Conveniently located just 2 miles from Interstate 97 and 3 miles from MD Route 50, our marina sits on the North Shore of the Severn River — only 7 nautical miles from Downtown Annapolis and 8 nautical miles from the Chesapeake Bay.
